NOOR HAJ-TAMIM

Noor Haj-Tamim is the Executive Director of Operations for the JSSOAR program and mechanical engineer. Noor is pursuing her Master's degree in Computer Engineering at the Ohio State University.
Noor plans to follow with an additional degree in Flight Test Engineering at the National Test Pilot School.

Earlier this year, she was awarded a position and is classified as a “Citizen Science Astronaut Candidate trainee” under the IIAS (International Institute for Astronautical Sciences) for noctilucent cloud and mesospheric studies.
Noor is certified in hypoxia training, training in the high altitude setting while experiencing high G aerobatic flights in up to 6.4 G forces. Throughout her training, Noor has learned the critical adjustment of spatial and situational awareness, applying skills to flight training, intravehicular activity (IVA) suit training, and her work in the industry, while simultaneously preparing for future missions and assignments.
Noor is a cadet pilot, studying aviation at the Royal Jordanian Air Academy in the Middle East and has acknowledged the large differences between the American industry and European industry.

Noor formerly acted as the Student Principal Investigator at the NASA L’SPACE NPWEE (NASA Proposal Writing and Evaluation Experience) Program, collaborating with a team of randomly selected students, formulating a novel technology dedicated to safety in aerospace, being the Ultrasonic Modulated De-icing technology for fixed-wing aircraft utilizing piezoelectric actuators. She has previously acted as the Student Project Manager, conducting a mock Lunar Orbiter Mission as well.

Noor is a former ambassador for the NASA Lucy Mission and has represented the aerospace and defense industry in Congress on behalf of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics. Additionally, Noor is a former Disaster Relief Intern for the American Red Cross, responding to natural disasters and blood drives in the Central Ohio Region.

Noor has acknowledged the difference between the aerospace and space industry given her previous experiences as an Operations Supervisor in the private aviation industry. As an Operations Supervisor in the Central Ohio Region, Noor has experienced a variety of work environments ranging from individuals to operation agendas, despite the STEM focus.

Despite her experience with the Industry, Noor has a great vision for the nonprofit sector, boasting a strong passion for providing easy access to STEM education for the underrepresented as she faced similar situations throughout her childhood.
